Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber was ousted by 18-year-old Russian, Anastasia Potapova 4-6, 2-6 within the first spherical at Roland Garros.
Kerber was coming off a foot damage however this win was fully lopsided in Potapova’s favour. This damage led her to withdraw from Italian Open and retire in a second spherical tie at Madrid Open.

This was the German’s sixth first-round exit on the French Open. She has received every each grand slam as soon as, barring the title at Roland Garros.
